Mike, first of all GMail is just bad. I could write an entire article about how bad Google is. Google’s mantra is “Don’t Be Evil”. So naturally, the skeptic in me says, these guys must be EVIL! And of course, they are. I suspect their GMail service is not doing very well so they are trying to spice it up.

Video Chat is great, but totally dependent on everyone having a zippy connection. No problem… as long as you live in Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Sweden, France, Canada, Poland, Germany…just about any other developed country besides the USA. Broadband speeds here are ridiculously low compared with all of these other countries. Barely fast enough (as most of you can attest) to stream a tiny YouTube video without hops, skips & jumps.

Google is a great search engine, mapping service, image/video finder. All FREE! And like all their other free services, they come with a price. The only thing I would recommend GMail is for mailing lists, surveys and to have an email to give to people you’d rather not talk to (“Yeah, my email is herpes@gmail.com— Look forward to hearing from you!”) Yahoo has no limits on email storage, and as far as I know, are not trying to take over the world (unless of course, Microsoft buys them).

This is great! And video chat does not get any easier than that.
