This week the Dayton Daily News launched it’s new “Dayton B2B” site, where they are going to try to post more local, useful business news. They are also promising a daily e-mail update, similar to what the Dayton Business Journal does.
So far, not impressed. I signed up for a daily e-mail and haven’t received one yet, and the site is very ad-laden. Not that the whopping 9 businesses (including Cox Ohio) who’ve registered so far are going to create a useful business directory- but, if you are looking to build incoming links to your business site for some Google juice-

During the October 30, Democratic Presidential Debate, Ohio’s Dennis Kucinich, in this listener’s opinion, spoke with clarity, passion and good sense. The entire transcript on the MSNBC event is recorded here. I found myself agreeing with much of what Kucinich had to say and found myself admiring the gumption he demonstrated in presenting his views. Kucinich ideas, it seems to me, within the main stream media are not given the attention they deserve. The following are excerpts of Kucinich’s comments made in the course of the Oct 30 debate:
We Need to Adamantly Reject Any Kind Of a Move Toward War

One has to wonder if Rep. Ross McGregor will at least send Rep. Peter Ujvagi, D-Toledo, a Christmas card this year.
It’s the least he could do after McGregor, a Springfield Republican, for the second time in 18 months, copied a Ujvagi bill and put his name on it.
Both times the proposals involved veterans issues. After GOP leaders blocked several of Ujvagi’s efforts over the prior three years to pass a bill extending free tuition to the spouses of fallen soldiers, McGregor in May 2006 copied the exact bill, put his name on it, and watched it sail through both

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Investor-owned utilities most affected by changes coming in Ohio’s $14 billion electric power industry have lavished thousands of dollars on the political campaigns of Republicans who will steer those changes.
Campaign finance records show that the political action committees of FirstEnergy Corp., American Electric Power Co. and Duke Energy have given at least $80,250 to the campaigns of House and Senate leaders and their caucus campaign funds so far this year.
However, the utilities have accomplished little in the energy bill, expected to be voted on by the full Senate on Wednesday. The bill would

The Montgomery County Commissioners’ recently began giving public presentations on their 2007-2008 strategic initiatives.
The initiatives are grouped into 5 categories:
Economic Development
Regional Collaboration
Human Services Safety Net
Quality of Life
Operational Efficiency
It was good to see the issue of regional collaboration brought to the forefront of the Commissioners’ agenda, however, the specific strategies to achieve collaboration are weak and vague. For example, “Studying the future and structure of government that is unique to Montgomery County” what in the world does that mean?
In the area of economic development the Commissioners’ promise to, “Play an integral part in facilitating inter-jurisdictional cooperation by:
Encouraging the use of tax

American kids, dumber than dirt / Warning: The next generation might just be the biggest pile of idiots in U.S. history
Then our discussion often turns to the meat of it, the bigger picture, the ugly and unavoidable truism about the lack of need among the government and the power elite in this nation to create a truly effective educational system, one that actually generates intelligent, thoughtful, articulate citizens.
Hell, why should they? After all, the dumber the populace, the easier it is to rule and control and launch unwinnable wars and pass laws telling them that sex is bad and

Nobody got shot, but Vice President Cheney still fired up controversy Monday when he went hunting at a private club that hangs the Confederate flag.
A Daily News photographer captured the 3-by-5 foot Dixie flag affixed to a door in the garage of the Clove Valley Gun and Rod Club in upstate Union Vale, N.Y.
“It’s appalling for the VP to be at a private club displaying the flag of lynching, hate and murder,” said the Rev. Al Sharpton. “It’s the epitome of an insult.”
Sharpton demanded Cheney distance himself from the exclusive club where the Stars and Bars was flown, and said
