It appears from today’s Dayton Daily News article that Preston’s $170 million big fish isn’t really in the boat yet. Speculation surrounding the timely announcement is being heard from all industries in the Dayton region. When you catch the hospitals, county officials and regional economic development leaders off guard, something is amiss.
We still haven’t heard from the other two Trustees in Miami Township. Were they asleep at the wheel, they approved the development deal with Clivus* in July. She visits California as part of her duty as a Trustee. A very frugal visit, cheap airfare and one night stay.

Politicians rarely return money to donors. Usually they do it when the donor gets in trouble or there would be political fallout for the candidate or office holder. Today Trustee Deborah Preston bucks the trend and returns a $5000.00 contribution. She said the contribution was “legal, it’s ethical and it’s appropriate, and he had every right to make a campaign contribution,”
Let’s look at the entire story. Trustee Preston makes a secret visit to California in May according to public records released to this blog and the Dayton Daily news today. She secures a tentative agreement in May according to the

On October 19 Miami Township Trustee Deborah Preston (R), former Township Fiscal Officer and wife to Miamisburg City Councilman Darin Preston, filed her “Pre-General” Campaign Finance report at the Montgomery County Board of Elections.
She listed a carryover of $149.34 from her last report. She reported income of $9700.00. That is a good amount for an incumbent who is being challenged for her seat. Her husband, and campaign Treasurer, contributed $1,200.00 from his campaign account.
Sim Evans of Miamisburg, a strong Second Amendment guy and proponent of concealed carry laws gave Mrs. Preston $1,000.00. Understanding Mrs. Preston to be on the far

After a dozen plus years reading campaign finance reports, one shouldn’t be surprised at the prices people pay for elected office. Look closely at the County Democratic Party and see their payment for consulting fees. This is for the services rendered to our Mayor. This, more than $5000.00, expense helped her get a new hairstyle, glasses and motivation to lose some of her more famous hats. Speaking of the Mayor, look at her contributions, many of the same folks who contribute are Republicans who wish her out of office on one hand and write checks with the other.
The most surprising

The Dayton Tea Party had about 8,000 attendees for their rally held on Wednesday, April 15 at Courthouse Square in downtown Dayton.
“The City of Dayton Police Officers who provided security at the rally estimated the attendance to be about 8,000 total,” said Rob Scott, co-founder of the Dayton Tea Party. “The Dayton Tea Party was the largest in Ohio and one of the largest in the U.S.”

At DaytonOS, in November, we averaged 428 visitors each day, and we averaged 1278 “hits” each day. A “hit” indicates that a specific article is accessed. As this chart shows, we were busiest around election day, and have been tapering off since then.
Sort of as an experiment, I placed five “channels” on DaytonOS to display Google ads. The revenue on these ads vary from day to day. My highest amount of ad revenue for one day was $3.63. Total ad revenue for the month was $21.36 or $.71 per day.
I’m thinking that if

If a community accepts a gift of a large marker displaying The Ten Commandments, must it accept and display a gift of a marker with the tenets of a different religion?
The US Supreme Court has decided to hear a case that might decide the question. (Nina Totenburg of NPR, reports on the case.)
Shown Summum Bonum Amon Ra, aka, “Corky,” with the Seven Aphorisms.
The city of Pleasant Grove, Utah, contends that just because it erected a privately-donated Ten Commandments monument in its public park, it does not have to accept a monument from a little-known religious group called Summum espousing its

John McCain, as he concluded his acceptance speech, said, “I fell in love with my country when I was a prisoner in someone else’s. … My country saved me, and I cannot forget it. And I will fight for her for as long as I draw breath, so help me God.”
McCain said, “I’m going to fight for my cause every day as your president.” And then, he used the word “fight” seven more times in the last few words of his speech:
“Fight with me. Fight with me. Fight for what’s right for our country. Fight for the ideals and

Sarah Palin describes herself as a “Hockey Mom,” and got a laugh in her vice presidential acceptance speech by saying that the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull is lipstick. But Palin, down to earth and intelligent, really doesn’t make such a great pit bull.
